Pest and Herbicide Management

Policy

In accordance with University Environmental Policy the Grounds section uses biological controls and natural substances in preference to pesticides and herbicides in the maintenance of the campus grounds. If use of chemical substances is unavoidable, minimally toxic chemicals are preferred.

Chemicals are applied according to safety guidelines established by the Health Department of Western Australia and WorkSafe Western Australia. The Grounds section also holds a Pesticide Operator's Licence which is reviewed annually with the Health Department of Western Australia.
