Recyclable Items

Policy

Recyclable Items

Items which are currently recyclable on campus include paper products*, aluminium, tin and aerosol cans, soda glass, plastics and cardboard drinking cartons. Batteries are also collected and disposed of by Cleaning Services.

* Paper products which can be recycled:

  • paper of all types
  • computer paper
  • envelopes - plain, coloured and windowfaced
  • magazines and glossy paper
  • newspaper
  • thermal paper faxes
  • cards and cardboard
  • gummed labels
  • manila and level arch files
  • textbooks
  • dispenser paper
  • telephone books

Paper with staples, tape paper clips and binding CAN be recycled.

 

Non-recyclable Items

  • padded envelopes
  • carbon paper
  • typewriter ribbons
  • rubber bands
  • tissues
  • cleaning rags
  • lunch bags
  • coffee cups
  • foam cups
  • coffee cups
  • cigarette and tobacco packing
  • food scraps
  • candy and foil wrappers
  • dead flowers
  • waxed paper
  • broken glass
  • ceramic plates

  • Place recyclable products in Recycling bins which can be found in each office.
  • Give crushed* cardboard boxes to departmental cleaner. (*modest amounts)
  • Remove large volume of cardboard to skip bin in car park 9.
  • Request collection of batteries by departmental cleaner.

Cleaning Services

  • Collect and remove crushed cardboard to pick up location.
