Preamble

The State Government decision to halve the amount of waste going to landfill by the year 2000 will significantly increase collection charges for Sulo bins on campus.

Policy

Additional bins for functions

Charges for emptying additional bins provided for special functions have been increased to $3.50 per day to offset general waste removal costs and to increase awareness amongst users of the need to plan for large amounts of waste removal for functions and to book bins accordingly.

This will also prevent the moving of Sulo bins during the event from other department areas by the users, which invariably causes further waste removal problems on campus after the function.

The Festival of Perth will organise their own cleaning and waste removal needs.

User group

  1. Discusses requirements for the event with Venues Office.
  2. Completes Venue booking form requesting additional bins for function, dates required and location and faxes to Cleaning Services Supervisor.

    NB : User group can contact waste removalists directly if they wish.

  3. Responsible for cleaning during and after the function.

    User group may request Cleaning Services to clean the venue or make their own arrangements.

Cleaning Services Supervisor

  1. Inspects site after the event to ensure that the venue has been cleaned by organisers in a satisfactory manner.
  2. Forwards account to organisers after the event if cleaning services have been requested or additional cleaning has been required.
