Window Cleaning

Policy

Accessible windows in University buildings will be cleaned annually in strict compliance with safety regulations.

In addition to the annual cleaning, departments may request Cleaning Services to clean windows on a needs basis. In such cases, costs will be borne by the department.

Window cleaning contractors must have knowledge of the WorkSafe WA Code of Practice entitled "Prevention of Falls at Workplaces".

Only window contractors with 1) a knowledge of the Code of Practice - "Prevention of Falls at Workplaces" and 2) the appropriate insurance will be hired to clean windows in University buildings.

Accessible windows are those with either anchor points, enclosed balconies, guard rails or fall arrest systems. Access to windows may also be obtained by supported ladders.

Buildings without roof access and fall arrest systems will be prioritised for future implementation of fall arrest devices.
